Please join us as we honor Mr. Walter Havenstein as the recipient of this year's Youth Leadership Foundation Spirit of Service Award, for his philanthropic work and efforts to promote leadership and the study of math and science in our school systems. Mr. Havenstein serves on the board of directors of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and FIRST — For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology; and on the board of advisors for the University of New Hampshire, Whittemore School of Business. Mr. Havenstein now leads SAIC, one of the nation’s largest science and technology consulting firms, whose employees are passionate about actively engaging children in learning that will lead to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics-related (STEM) fields.
We are also thrilled to announce that award winning news anchor, Leon Harris, of WJLA ABC7 will once again be joining us as the emcee for the evening's festivities. Mr. Harris is a long time supporter of YLF and has invited students to meet with him for lunch and tours of the WJLA Studios in Roslyn, Virginia.
This year's dinner will be held at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Hotel located at 1000 H Street, NW, Washington, DC on December 10, 2009. Cocktails will commence at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and entertainment to follow. Tickets and sponsorships for this event can be purchased below using our simple online registration process.
