The
Youth Leadership Foundation (YLF) was founded in 1997 in order to serve
disadvantaged youth from Washingtons inner city by
boosting academic
performance while developing their character. YLF operates two supplemental
educational programs for Washington area minority students,
the Tenley Achievement Program (TAP) for boys, and the Program for Academic
and Leadership Skills (PALS) for girls. Both programs originally started
as inner city outreach programs of the Tenley Study Center, a professional
mens service and mentoring organization, and its sister organization,
the Van Ness Study Center.
"This
program is excellent. We need to make it available to more children."
The Hon. Eugene N. Hamilton, Senior Judge (formerly Chief Judge)
of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia
